1 June 1997 to 16 Aug 2005

System Administrator for (i)-Structure, Inc.  (A Level3 Company), Omaha NE.

I was stationed at and supporting AIX, Tru64Unix, and OpenVMS operations at Weirton Steel Corporation, Weirton WV for seven years.  More recently I have been supporting AIX and OpenVMS operations for all customers, and providing on-call third level support for LINUX, HP-UX, and Sun servers as well. Monitor and Administrate several stand-alone RISC machines running AIX versions 3.15 through 5.3 (Some with DB2, DB2 CONNECT, and IBM Enetwork SNA Server) to ensure security, availability and performance. Support Oracle and DB2 DBA operations on IBM RISC machines (In coordination with an Oracle DBA and application developers). Developed backup strategy and create and maintain backup schedules and monitoring to ensure data security. Created system of hardware and software scripts and reports to detect hardware and software problems early. Developed scripts and programs to monitor load and Capacity Planning data and generate HTML reports and graphics for online viewing.

1986 to 1997

Computer/IS support (System Administrator, System Analyst, and Programmer) for UNIMED Medical Center, Minot ND.

Administrated and managed several Unix systems: HP 9000/870, several AT&T 3B2 computers, one Motorola V68.  Helped administrate one IBM RISC machine and several NOVELL 3.12 servers and network.  During this time I was often the sole resource for local UNIX application design, creation, and modification for all UNIX systems. Designed and implemented several hospital database applications:

o        Complete patient intervention tracking system (called ACUITY)

o        Online Work Order entry and tracking system for Biomedical Support.

o        Countless patient contact and mailing database applications.

o        All backup and restore scripts on HP and AT&T machines.

o        Communications solutions, data transfer tools, and support applications.

o        Installed several LANs using both NOVELL and Peer-to-Peer network systems.

o        Assisted in the integration of the local hospital networks with a local clinic NOVELL based network to create a region-wide WAN for hospital and clinic support of mixed IPX and TCPIP servers and clients.

o        Assisted in development of an ISP (dacotah.com) and several INTERNET facilities.
